rim and tire combo for front

I have a mustang II suspension on my 1950 and am looking for tire/rim sizes. I want to fill the wheel well as much as possible. I am going with 17X10 inch rims on the rear with 285/40 tires. I want 17's on the front also. let me know what you have and pics would be good also. thanks

Re: rim and tire combo for front

I would say that a 17x8 in the front with around a 4"-4.5" back spacing would work with around a 245-45 tire. that way your overall tire hieght is close to the same. Maybe try a 235-45 but they get a little harder to find.Do you have a certain brand tire you want to use? Give me a few names and I will get you some answers on tires. Ill look into the front wheels size also.

the tire brand is not important to me, I am going with Boyd Smoothie II rims, they are custom order and the minimum backspace is 4.5"

Re: rim and tire combo for front

depends how low you want to go.

Im laid on the running board with 20x8 and 255/35/20. I have like ~5.5 of backspacing so I can turn alot when reallly low.

mine is not going that low it is lowered 5" in the rear and using stock M II spindles up front. it will sit at this level

theese are 17x8's from my vette. the bolt pattern is different so the fronts are up against the wheel studs. it would go in another inch or so.

Re: rim and tire combo for front

If you want to fill your wheel wells at that ride height I would suggest in going with a 20 up front and a 22 in the rear. That will set that truck off!
