Just picked up a Headliner and was wondering what is the best way to install it and the chrome strips.
Also is Super glue the best way to repair the Chrome strip ?

this might be a stupid question, but how much space is inbetween your headliner and the top of the cab? like how big are the screws that go through the sheet metal? i wanna get one of those headliners where you mount your cd player in it, it says it uses screws inthe stock holes, but i dont have any holes so do i drill new ones and pray that i dont go right through???? sorry for stealing your thread bill, just was wondering...thanks guys

I can get pics of the screws going up through my cab roof. Its depressing really.
Go with short screws.....damn short.

just call them micro antenas. the screws should be a max of 1/4 inch. I dont try and glue anymore. I will actually light the plastic on fire and melt it back together.

Hey Bill,
You can do it a number of ways. You can buy the glue that comes in a can with the brush attached to the lid. www.classicindustries.com has it in their catalog as original. You can also use a spray adhesive that withstands humidity and moisture OR you can use quality silicone in a caulk gun and do a clean neat job. This is the way I recommend. It helps if you have someone give you a hand especially since you have never done it. As far as the trim, you can use crazy glue if it's broke at a connector and it's a driver vehicle. Otherwise I would buy a new set for about $70. It will look great as long as you don't use harsh cleaners on it. Does your truck have the factory oval holes for a headliner?, if not you will have to snap off the clips and carefully drill the holes in the ceiling. (USE A DRILL STOP!). Good Luck!

You could use a short, self-trapping screw so you don't go through the roof and then back them out and put in your short screws that go with the headliner. Just make sure the self-tapping screws are smaller in diameter than the permanent ones......................JB

I predrilled mine. I spaced the holes about every 10" and in every corner and backed up the flathead screws with cup style finishing washers. I used #8X3/4" flathead phillips sheet metal screws. I used plain-ol contact cement to glue the 'liner up.

They actually cost $78 at www.carandtruckshop.com and about the same at LMC. I knew I was close on the price but I just verified it for sure. Part #69-02926. Nice people to deal with.

They were selling these for about that price awhile ago but they started to lower their prices recently on certain things. Competition is good us who need parts!

Hmmm, being that I have ot gotten a catalog from LMC for 6 months or so...I was unaware.
Here is the pic I promised. Wasn't as good as I had anticapated..but it's too dang cold out there to do it again.

I wouldnt go any longer than 3/8's screws. The 1/2 can go through if you draw them too tight.

If you were going to drill pilot holes (I would!), drill them and use a piece of wire as a guage. Stick it through the hole and mark with your fingers how deep it is. I could see where the distance between the cab roof and the outer roof might be different in different locations on the roof and from cab to cab for that matter. Also, be careful when drilling. If you go through to fast you could dimple the roof or even worse, go right on through it too!

Well just learned not to try to polish the plastic chrome with chrome cleaner or plastic cleaner wore the chrome off, was going to install the headliner tomorrow ,now will be looking for chrome paint .

Bud did you repaint your plastic ,if so what paint did you use
