Need some frame advice

I'm intimidated to post on this board... y'all are artists!

Anyway .. the pictures should explain my concern. I'm in the final stages of tear down and need some sugestions (ranging from "this will work" to the "best thing") on how to deal with this...

Re: Need some frame advice

the inner frame strengthening reinforcement braces can be replaced easy enough. grind off rivet heads remve inner piece, relace with a flat piece of same thickness metal and use grade 8 bolts. the frame has such a drastic upward angle at this spot a heavy load and a big engine and a heavy right foot and a too quick dump of the clutch meant tweaked frame.. the inner brace is nothing more than a piece of frame cut to fit. the coil spring top pads are in catalogs. old money.

Re: Need some frame advice

Going for a subject change ... lol

Right now I am mostly "restifying." I am cleaning, repairing and replacing (with better parts where I can) and not planning any huge mods but I am seriously considering doing a semi-static small drop, jst to get the ride height down, not to drop it into the weeds.

I was pretty much thinking of going with AR shockwaves and drop spindles in front and shockwaves or more traditional bags in back. (Want to add swaybars front and bacl also.)

This leaves me with a question -- I have the complete disc brake front end out of a 74 3/4 ton. Will I still be able to use my 8 lug rotors with drop spindles or would I have to choose between a specialty product or going over to 5 lugs? I kind of like the 8 lug setup and, being on a fairly tight budget, I also like not having to get a new set of shoes.

Re: Need some frame advice

I actually had the same issue as you with my frame. I had to cut the shock mount and the coils out. The frames braces are now cut out as well and when i got everything off things were alot worse than i had planned. I do plan to put a step notch in and I am just going to cut up the rear of the frame.. I will hopefully have pictures but its nice to see i am not alone with frame problems.
