A/C compressor question

I just got an '85 C10. It originally came with a 350 but the previous owner put a 307 in it. The A/C compressor was removed as well as the hoses. The rest of the system seems to be there. My question is can I just get a compressor and hoses from Auto Zone and use that? When they ask about engine size should I say 350 since that's what everything used to run off of or 307?

It sure is hot here in middle Georgia so I need some cool air.

If it is a C10, it pobably had a 305 originally. I have never seen one from the 80s that came with a 350 originally, but they might have made them.

As long as it is a Chevy 307 and not an Oldsmobile, everything for a 305/350 should work. If it an old diesel truck (Olds based) with an Olds 307 in it, that might be a little more complicated.

If you don't know what type of 307 it is, post a pic. We can tell you if it is a Chevy or not.

If it is a Chevy engine, are the brackets for the compressor in place? Early small block Chevies (SBCs) did not have the mounting holes for the brackets. I know a 307 is an older SBC, but I don't know if it is old enough to use the old stye brackets.

If its 307SBC everything should interchange You might want to check ebay ive seen some pretty good deals on ac delco hoses and new compressors built in FW TX By a company that supposedly builds them for ac-delco but i dont know for sure one way or the other.

I have a 86 that i switched from a 305 to a 350 and bought new a/c lines from autozone as well as compressor, everything hooked up fine and ready to charge this weekend. Just watch the compressor they sell you, there is a slight offset where the hose manifold assembly attaches to the compressor, if it is not the correct one the wiring harness will not attach to the compressor.

Wow, autozone has ac lines? Are these thing they stock or do they have to be ordered? Guess it's to late for me I had some custom lines made for my bird and for the fisrt time the ac has been working for more then 2 days.

Anyway. Heres a couple pics. The black engine is the 80's+ setup. The orange is the early style pre 80. If you have early heads without acc holes you will need somthing like what is mounted to it.
