Re: transfer case swap

As with many things Ford did, they made a mistake and never changed it.The quality`s there since Dana built it.But,the problem is,they put the pumpkin on the wrong side. This compounded the situation to require the transfer case to be made bass ackwards.

Re: transfer case swap

The NP203 may not be dead. They are actually pretty strong with one real weakness. The stamped metal ring that wraps around the spider gears in the rear out-put housing has some rather small teeth. That, coupled with the fact that the shifters for these units leave a lot to be desired, can lead to failure. This ring is a simple thing to check/replace and it may be your problem.

Re: transfer case swap

Way are you looking for a furd transfer case (drivers drop)? If you have a GM truck you need a passenger side drop case.

Re: transfer case swap

i have seen it done. the guy had a ford dana 60 front axle(pumpkin on wrong side) and i think he got the adapter thing from advanced adapters. the only thing that i think was a problem was the shifter didnt line up with the hole on the floor so he had to do some cutting. i can go to his house this weekend and get some pics if you need them. im not a 203 fan my swap to the 205 (from a 70 chevy blazer)was probably the best mod ive done yet.
