any one near birimingham alabama for inspection? opinions please

im in arizona and considering buying this truck. the blazer shows 61,000 original ? miles and not 161,000. the present owner belives it to be all original miles. it sure looks good! now, the present owner states he had a new crate motor installed because the valve guides were bad causing it to smoke. and it was better to replace the engine than a valve job. talking to the owner i feel he is very honest! but he can not guarentee it has 61,000. can anyone recomend a dealer for inspection? or anyone here do an inspection for me? would pay for your time... heres the ad. please give me your opinion.. thx, dave

I'm in Tuscaloosa, which is pretty close to B-ham. I'm no dealer by any means, but I could possibly go check this bad boy out for you. PM me with info and what not, I can take some pictures too.

How do you know it is not 161k or 261k? With there not being a 6 digit odometer in it there is no way to really know.

Used to be my best trick when selling a car/truck, replace the brake pedal pad and the emergency pedal pad and make it look extremely low mileage. Then they went and ruined it by putting in odometers that showed the 100k and up.

You dont see trucks that clean unless they are restored. Highly doubt it has 100k or 200k miles on it. Its just a clean low mileage blazer. Other than the front bumber being tweeked, its in awesome shape.

Re: any one near birimingham alabama for inspection? opinions please

I do think its a VERY clean Blazer, but there are things that make me question the validity of the mileage. The seats appear to have been recovered which leads me to question the mileage

I live within 40 miles and would be glad to give it a peek. I also have a 1987 Silverado with 72.000 all original. The bumpers will tell you a lot, mine are clean but you can see the age in them. In fact all the trim should be some what dull. Also should show some wear on the brake pedal. PM me if I can help.

You may be right. I just looked at it agian and realized that its an 88. Earlier seats had a seam around the front edge, but the later years might have eliminated it.
