Fan Clutch Noise on 99 C1500 Suburban
Put a new fan clutch on last year. Was at a local mechanics shop getting something else looked at and he said "I noticed your fan clutch is locked up" I asked "How do you know that, your were looking at the rear of the car?" He said "I can hear it. Hear that airplance roar when push the gas? That's the clutch gone out."
So I went and bought another one and ......it sounds exactly the same!!! The car never runs hot. I just put a new radiator in last night. Water pump was replaced last year. The ONLY thing Ive ever noticed about the cooling system is, I cant ever keep any dexcool in the reserve. The reserve goes dry alot of the times. Is this roaring noise at takeoff normal? I only ever hear it at lower RPM's. Thanks. |

Re: Fan Clutch Noise on 99 C1500 Suburban
It makes this roaring noise at operating temp as well, It's normal at cold start.
Your intake gaskets are most likely leaking, Fix it now!!! It can eventually Leak into the crankcase or a cylinder causing engine damage. |
