1984 Suburban Cargo Door Problem

Hi All,
My '84 C20 Suburban came with broken cargo doors and while I'd hoped that it would be as simple as getting a new lock cylinder and handle, it appears that I'm missing parts or that the mechanism is seized and not moving properly. The button from the handle can't reach the actual mechanism, and neither does the lock cylinder. Would anyone be able to tell me what I'm missing here or potentially even have a latch I could purchase? Any help would be appreciated.
