Project "Ghost"

Let me tell you a little about this project. It all started a few years ago. I paid $500.00 for this truck up in north Texas. Truck is in good condition. Needs body work on the normal areas, but nothing major. So I did some modifications on it. It's a 1968 Short bed truck, or so I thought. I crawled under the other day and found out it was a long bed. Work don't look to bad. I was kind of upset cause I thought it was an original. Well Project "Ghost" was given its name from my wife. She says that I just put money into this truck, but she never see's any progress. Well i'm hoping on finishing it by October. We will see.Name: image6.jpg

Re: Project "Ghost"

I did some measuring for the rear wheels.
I have 5 1/2 inches from the inside of the fender to the drum.
12 3/4 inches from the inside fender to the wheel tub.
7 1/2 inches from the outside fender to the drum.
14 1/2 inches from the outside fender to the wheel tub.

would a 12 wheel fit in the rear or do I need to tub it?

I've always read a 10" is the widest wheel you can run with stock tubs. Even though there is more space than that you need clearance and also depends on the width of the tire going on the rim.

Re: Project "Ghost"

thanks for the response, i've seen a couple of projects on tubs so i might just give it a shot. I want something that will stick, I think i can add a few inches on each side.

These are some pictures I got from one of the members here. I like the width on the tires.

Re: Project "Ghost"

Found some wheels with summit.
Torq thrust 15/8 and 15/12. I wanted to go with 18's for the front and 20/12 rear, but all I found that I liked run around 1200 a wheel. I'm still thinking about what I should get.

Re: Project "Ghost"

looks like engine is coming back out, I don't like the issues with the headers hitting, so im just going to move the tubular engine mounts back about 1/2 inch. that should fix my problem.

what do you guys think about running a hydoboost break system?

Autometer cluster project. I've seen some projects with replacing the guages so I decided to give it a try.

I also placed an order for a vintage air system from Scottshotrods.com.
They will give you a good deal. I will post pics once I get the order in.
