Yes another one
I have a 71 chevy swb frame and was wondering !! i know the 73-87 mounts are not the same but what about the width of the front the rest i can deal with.. yes i want to take a older frame and use it on a newer body,i just need to know will i have too widen the front cross member thanx in advance

of course, you will have to redo the mounts for the cab and bed, but the width of the frame in the front, where the engine crossmember is, is the same. now, the height of the frame is different though. I have an '84 crossmember in my '69, and used the "newer" style engine mounts. I had to add about an inch of bar stock to the frame for it to mount right. worked though.

Why not just put the trailing arm crossmember in the 73-87 frame ???
I would think it would be a lot less work

you realize the wheel base is longer on the newer trucks, and the fact that you'll have to make up a custom spacer/lift for the front of the cab, and maybe even the core.
I think you could sell off this one for more than getting the correct frame. |

Yep maybe i should just sell the frame and start all over well it was worth a shot i have some debt to pay off anyway thanx and godd bless yall...
