Newtz '67 swb

This was my dad's work truck. I started working on it when I was 15, and eventually bought it from him. I rebuilt the 350 he had in it, bought a TCI 400 trans from summit, heated the coil springs to lower it (haha), and had it painted. This truck was my hot rod all through high school, then I sold it. Of course I kicked myself in the ass for it, so when a friend told me he had seen it for sale, I went and bought it back, with power steering,new brakes, and a few dents added. Then I had an engine fire, and it just sat for the next 7 yrs. Now I'm building a big block for it, and have plans to bag it. Nothing too crazy, but I want to do things right this time around. Here are a few pics of what it looked like 10 yrs. ago, and how the new engine looks now.

is funny my son found his 96 1500 we sold a couple of years back and he called me asking me if we should buy back I told him that once I sell something is like breaking up with a G/F or divorcing the wife we are done with it.
Looks like you have a serious motor going in it good luck....

Before my account was activated, I saw a thread with the first couple pics being a truck with the bed off, and some fat drag radials on the back wheels.Later in the thread he changed to 20"s. I really wanted to ask the owner some questions, but can not find the thread now for the life of me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I think the cab was green, but not 100% on that. Thanks!

Welcome aboard! You will find this website invaluable for info. I am wandering if you could provide me with a few specs on your engine. I am currently building a 454 and was kind of using the old LS-7 crate motor for a guide. What pistons and heads are you using? ect.,ect. Thanks and good luck....

This is my first big block, so I'm kinda using a motor that Edelbrock built as a guide. Pistons are Sealed Power, heads are cast iron 049 heads that have been rebuilt. Compression ratio should be around 10.25:1. Cam, and intake are Edelbrock performer rpm. Carb is Edelbrock 750. Only difference between mine and Edelbrocks is the heads. They used Edelbrock performer rpm heads. At almost $2,000 for a set, those will come a little later. haha. Their motor put out 533 hp. Nothin too crazy, but it should be fun! I have a question. I haven't really researched it yet, but I was wondering if my 454 will work on my small block motor mounts or if I need to get different mounts for the big block. This is for the '67. Thanks for any info!

10 years ago i was heatn springs on my first Chevy a 78 Monte Carlo with 15x8 5 star Centerlines with 205/50/15's(real low)

You will need new mounts. Check performance online. They sell a pretty nice set of stands & mounts. I think they are 129.00. I would move the motor back as far as possible if you want it to hook. Moving the motor back will help with weight transfer.

Hey Newtz, been away for a while and just saw your mount question. On mine, I went with a donor set of frame mounts from an '81 model that had a big block, and a set of solid mounts. (The pic shows the rubber mounts). I just had to drill one hole on each side, and this was much cheaper than aftermarket mounts.

Those might be cheaper if you have a pullapart or something like that but most guys want more for the stock than the aftermarket. The aftermarket switches you to a car type mount so you can run solid mounts if you want. I would think you would have less clearance problems with the aftermarket since they are tubular.

BTW, Djracer, I'm a big fan of pass time and your truck! That thing is fast, and hooks like crazy!

So I checked out performance online. Is the kit the same for big block and small block? I didn't see a kit specifically for big block.

they just say v8 but they will work with a big block.

I have another question, I'm having a hell of a time finding headers for the 454. I want 1 7/8" primary tubes minimum. I would prefer 2 1/8" primary tubes with 3" to 3 !/2" collectors. I'm just not sure what will fit in the '67. Thanks again for any help!
