Revived Chalet

Greetings! Nice to be associated with such a great forum. I had seen a while back in a thread about Chalet's. Included was a picture of one from Eagle River, Alaska. I purchased that chalet. Camper only. No blazer. Anyways, I fixed up an old $700.00 blazer (1987 Model) and finally put my Chalet on it. It's still not "done" as I plan on restoring the chalet top to bottom this winter. In the meantime, here's a couple of photos from last weekend...
Regards,
Akchalet

Re: Revived Chalet

: Motornut,
I have skyjacker springs on the front and a 4 inch block on the rear with airbags. The camper is a bit heavy so it would sag in the back. Drives a lot better with the airbags....

Re: Revived Chalet

Here's a couple of pics from last night.... you may notice that I have changed my grille. In the earlier pics, my grille's mounting tabs were broken and the grille fell off when we were going through some rough areas. Got a grille and bezels from CL and they look good...

Re: Revived Chalet

The sun is so low on the horizon due to the fact that all three sets of photos were taken between 10:30 PM and11:30 PM....

Re: Revived Chalet

Yeah, it has FI. It ran pretty rough. Changed spark plugs/wires/cap/rotor. Ended up putting in new fuel injectors and a new o2 sensor. Runs great now. Here's a couple of pics of what I started with... note, the blue door is a replacement for the rusted out one I pulled off. Put on new rocker panels, fenders, hood, doors and some rust fix on the quarters.

Re: Revived Chalet

That must be the one from my post here, but please do confirm that it is #1243, built in 11/76. Those numbers are from the plate by the back door. I got that info from the original seller, a guy named Evan, but then it went though (I think) two more sellers where the first guy split up the truck and camper and put really high prices on the drive train alone and also on the camper. I have to assume the truck was really rotted, but I did try to convince the first guy not to split them up if that could be avoided.

There was a later Craigslist seller - or it might have been just a pal of the other seller - who exchanged an email with me last November, but that was the last I heard of it, so it is good to know it ended up in good hands.

Akchalet, look out for a PM from me in a bit...

Re: Revived Chalet

I placed some camper jacks under the Chalet and we jacked them all the way to the top. Even that wasn't enough. I had to take almost all the air out of the tires to get the blazer low enough to get the camper on.... this pic was about 11:00 PM. . . finished, and drove back to Anchorage (from Palmer). Got home about 3 Am...

Re: Revived Chalet

Wow!
Amazing views you have there, I'd love to live there.
Great job on the blazer rebuild. Did you paint it yourself?
What type of fender flares do you have on there.
I love the color combo you went with on paint. Nobody ever seems to repaint back to the darker earth colors like that. If I ever get the chance to repaint on it will be like yours.
