Tranny Question

Hi folks,

You may remember that I was having trouble with my transmission. OK, probably not. Anyway, it has stopped moving altogether in reverse , and the governor is bad, and it leaks... Long story short, I want to replace it. But it seems I need to know the tailshaft length in order to get the right replacement. I crawled under the truck to try to measure it, but I'm having a hard time deciding on a line between "tranny" and "tailshaft" .

It's a TH350 in a '70 C20 with 350 V8 -- does anybody know how what the length of the tailshaft would be for this tranny? If not, can you give me any tips on measuring it?

Thanks for helping out a newbie...
-John
