Lightbulb What rear axle?

My stepdad bought a 79 Scottsdale 20 pickup today for 600 bucks, was sitting on a farm, was last licensed in '97...
Runs great, tranny is a little weak..

Anyone know what rear axle should be under a truck like this ?
The rear cover has 14 bolts and has 6 flat sides (shape), and the hubs are real short, they stick out past the wheels only about 2".
Hubcaps can fit over them.
It is full floating, and has no 60 cast into the housing that I could find.
There are bolts around the pinion shaft area to drop the pinion gear out.
Wierd looking rear axle, dont think Ive seen any like it before....

Any ideas ?
Oh, and could a 305 come in one of these trucks with an auto trans ??
Or were all 3/4T trucks 350-powered ????
Thanks for any info...
