Switch Suspension Hood Hinge Install Questions
I have the Switch Suspension hood hinges in place, and I'm ready to install the hood to weld the brackets in place.
My question is: when doing this, are you guys using hood bumps and the little bushings that push into the fender? Or are you laying the hood where you want it, shimming the hood to fit with the fenders/grille and then spot welding it? Any advice or guidance would be great - want to do this once! I attached an image of the hinges installed on another truck I found online.

Re: Switch Suspension Hood Hinge Install Questions
I should also note - the truck has reproduction bumpers for the hood, so they are super hard and not settled in by any means.

Re: Switch Suspension Hood Hinge Install Questions
When I did my hood with the Switch Suspension hinges, I basically installed the fender bumpers and cowl seal, and then set the hood down on the fenders. I centered it up and adjusted the bumpers as needed to get the hood where I wanted it without any influence from the hinges. Underneath, I already had the hinges installed without the gas struts and with the weld on bracket centered up on the hinge. I then just pushed the hinge up to the hood and tac welded the bracket to the hood. It is only the weight of the hood that keeps it in place so as long as you position that correctly before welding, then the hinges will set the hood right where you want it when closed. I think the only thing I did have to do was shift the hood forward a bit on the adjustment because my initial placement of the hood was too far back, but that was all my own fault. Hope this helps!

Re: Switch Suspension Hood Hinge Install Questions
UPDATE: I have installed the hood bumps and the fender bumps and I can honestly say they are night and day from the other reproductions I bought. That hood settled right down and immediately matched the fender seam. Ill share pictures once I have the hood pads welded in place.
Also, thank you for hewittca for the late-night replies last night helping me ensure I had proper play in the hinges!
