Seems to be how anything is...if it works great, discontinue it, and replace it with something else.

Or design a new "upgraded" unit and make the older one obsolete thereby forcing you to upgrade and spend more $$$. Same principle as to why the new phones are out of date within a years time. Have to ''improve'' to justify the more costly unit. The consumer never wins out at all.
