What r u doing about insurance

This may seem like a dumb question but, What is everyone doing to insure their trucks. I just got my '67 c10 and its in pretty good shape. It has a 427 in it that I have restored and I need to insure it. I cant do the classic car insurance because im going to be using it as a daily driver, even with the high gas prices. Everywhere i have talked to only insures basically blue book value, and that is crazy w/ the amount i am putting into this truck. Is there anything you guys recommend, or is there any company that would cover the "value" of the truck.
Please help me out with this

Re: What r u doing about insurance

My policy with State Farm has stated value I told them how much it was worth and they have insured it for that set amount. There are pictures of its current state in the file at that value to compare if something happens to her. I may be lucky because my agent is a family friend but have never had to show anything or have it appraised they just make me pay insurance on a vehicle that is worth $xxxx.xx.

Was there a limit to how many miles a year you could drive, because if not what you have is exactly what im looking for.

Thanks for the help

State Farm is who I have and they did the same with me. I have never had a problem with them and have been insured by my agent for 20 years tho.

Re: What r u doing about insurance

try www.americanhobbyist.com

They insure race cars and the like, basically anything that is worth more than "blue book"

Not sure on prices, but I know a few people that use them to insure their race cars

EDIT:.........no go on a daily driver

Re: What r u doing about insurance

I've always used Hagerty. They insure it for an agreed value. Last year, it ran me 91 bucks for the year to insure my short bed for 6500 value.

That’s who I’m using and have State Farm too. I got a letter in the mail asking questions abut how much I drive the vehicle etc. and wanted the mileage. After ignoring it like 4 times I finally sent it in. Had they sent you a letter like that?

TX Firefighter: With Hagerty Insurance, do they require you to keep your truck in the garage? What are your yearly miles?.

Garage, yes.

Mileage, they never asked me for any odometer readings and I don't offer.

I love Hagerty. That was not a misprint either, my rate are 91 bucks a year.

Re: What r u doing about insurance

I just dumped my Hagerty quote due to the garage deal. Mine was going to be 143.00/yr. Mileage wasn't a question. That was 8000.00 no deductable for my '69 C/10.

Not yet they never have asked for the milage if they do I am screwed on my work car it is in the same catagory and I drive it 100k+ per year. The agent know this and doesn't want to change it. He says if aomething ever happens to your vehicle he will just say they forgot to update it with the last vehicle change(I switch work cars every 18 months)

Re: What r u doing about insurance

TX,

Your right about the low rate I checked and I was quoted $125.00 annually based on $7500.00 agreed value. My problem, I don't have a garage and so I have it insured with Allstate with everything else. And of course, paying high because I live in South Florida in the Miami/Ft Lauderdale Area.

Re: What r u doing about insurance

AAA, I use to have state farm and was not happy with their people so I switched to AAA 10yrs ago and love them totally. They go by stated value also. I have NEVER had to have inspection of my vehicles, and they dont jerk around. I think I ended up saving like 6-7 hundred dollars per year with them.

Re: What r u doing about insurance

I have my gmc with allstate with a stated value of 14k. Cost something like $240/6months.

I did have hagerty on it, same value, and it was $145/year. I dropped hagerty when I was going to do a frame off on the gmc. Then one thing led to another and now I'm with allstate on the gmc. Oh well.
