And the Mystery bracket is????

I was going through my cabinet getting brackets ready to paint, and I found this one. Any ideas? I can't figure it out. I have a '79 doing a frame off and have no idea where this came from, I looked at the assembly manual and LMC and I can't figure it out, could you help me out? thanks

Re: And the Mystery bracket is????

No I don' think that is it, I have the battery tray and both pieces are still together, the funny thing is, it is completely rusted, unlike any other park I took off the truck, I did have rust, but not total, I think I might just sand blast it and paint it black, that way If I find out where it goes, it will be ready to bolt on. Still $1 to who ever guess the bracket

Re: And the Mystery bracket is????

I don't believe it is part of the front engine bracket for the pumps / alt. What are the dimensions of the part? That might help shed some light. Hard to tell how big it is w/o something to compare it to.

Re: And the Mystery bracket is????

I just went through the entire LMC catalog. I didn't find anything that resembled that bracket....sure you didn't mix parts with another project or something? lol

Re: And the Mystery bracket is????

The bracket is about 8" x 10". I am beginning to wonder if it is from something else, but I can't figure it out. Thanks for looking

Re: And the Mystery bracket is????

I haven't looked at any pics to support this opion yet but I'm thinking maybe a bracket for a exhaust heat shield under the truck for a muffler or cat. converter(I don't even know if 79 had cat. converters).

Re: And the Mystery bracket is????

No I just put the inner fenders together and nothing is missing there and I think that shield mounts straight to a cross member

I think it goes up under the dash, maybe around the pedals? I recognize it, but can't remember where I have seen it...
