Custom shift knob pic

Who has a cool custom shift knob for their manual transmission? I'm swapping a 4-speed in soon in place of the tired old 3-speed manual. I've been looking around at shift knobs, but most are very ricey.

Anybody have something cool?

I have a chrome hurst shifter, so I'm just looking for ideas for a knob. Saw a few cool ones on eBay, but nothing that's looked perfect yet.

I would look at "Honest Charlies" and/or some of the other vintage hot rod companies. They should have 8 ball and other nostalgia knobs. You might also chack 4X4 shops.

Re: Custom shift knob pic

I looked at your build thread and I really like the white knob you have. It might have the three speed pattern on it though?

I think those look timeless and very cool in our trucks. If you were going crazy custom with the big bling wheels and such something more custom would look OK.

Keep it period and you wont go wrong.

Re: Custom shift knob pic

There's a difference between a knob and a handle. He's looking for knobs here. Epco seems to have a large selection

The one I have in there is a Hurst with the 4-speed pattern, but it looks better in the photos than in person. It was on there when I bought the truck. It looks like it rolled around in the bed of the truck for a few years

I'm trying to figure something out that's classic looking but has a bit of custom flair to it.

EPCO has the imbedded option, and I saw they have the 327 logo with the flags. That might be just the ticket on a white knob.

Re: Custom shift knob pic

Sorry not a truck or a manual but it could be used in one. The cue ball has my lucky number and the colors match my car.

Re: Custom shift knob pic

I had a walnut knob with shift pattern on the last 4spd truck I had. I bought a couple jasper (?) knobs at a truck stop for my for my first 4wd and have transferred them from truck to truck since the '70s. Rock of ages. Couldn't find the picture I have. I have the OEM 4spd knob off a Corvair 95 (pickup) for my M22 till Project Poor Boy gets refined enough for an upgrade.I think it will get some comments once the truck gets out.

Re: Custom shift knob pic

Here's one I made for my transfer case, I cast it out of aluminum. I used some coarse sand to get the texture in the finger reliefs, I sanded the rest and polished it. The black part is a piece of oak that I covered with glue then rubbed sawdust into it and painted it.

Here's a few of mine. The one of the shot gun isn't a shifter, but an idea I was looking at. I rather not be shot in case I was ever pulled over.

The wrench is cool. I had thought about doing something like that when I had to customize my shifter, but then I decided to just modify what I had and cover the mod with a boot.
