I just swapped a newer crate motor in my 72 LWB and the original oil pressure line from the gauge that screws in near the distributor does not fit. The original one is slightly larger than the new block takes. The new motor is an 87 and newer block. Can anyone tell me where I can get the new fitting and what size it is? I've heard it should fit just like the original but I guarantee you it is not the same size and does not fit. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

i've heard but never seen it myself but some blocks are supposed to have metric fittings// i'd measure the hole then go to lowes ace harware home depot and look thru the metric fittings they hav

More then likely it's 1/4 in. pipe thread. Get a 1/4 to 1/8 reducer bush. at any hardware store & that will probably solve it.

if the original 1/8inch wont fit tthe hole in the block 9i sincerly doubt a 1/4 reducer will b effective

You are right Downs. After reading it again I believe what he needs is a fitting with 1/8 in pipe thread on it.

To all who helped with this, thank you. Lesson learned, never take someone's word on things. I assumed the mechanic that was doing the motor swap for me was competent. Silly me. The motor was painted and paint had seeped into the hole causing it to be difficult to get the fitting threaded. I played with it for a few minutes and low and behold, it fits. P.O.S mechanic, I payed the guy $500 to do the swap and I guess I got what I paid for. Oh yeah, he also didn't plug a bolt hole by the mechanical fuel pump, so it immediately started puking oil everywhere. Not to mention 10 other things he f'ed up. Want something done right, do it yourself.

If anyone lives in Las Vegas, DO NOT USE Oasis Automotive in Henderson. This guy sucks.

He may be bad, but he could have been worse and wrung off a fittting in the hole for ya. He did have enough sense to STOP.
