5.3 in dually

Ive got a 79 reg cab dually iv thought about stuffing a 5.3 into. Anyone here done a 1ton. I have a complete low mileage engine and trans with all supporting harness. Will do occasional towing duties. Nothing over 10k gross. Just wanted a few opinions and maybe some real world experience. Thanks

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
It's like a highly skilled Morrocan sword fighter with a Damascus Steel Scimitar.....

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.

Re: 5.3 in dually

I would do it myself as if I had a dually it would be a glorified driver. Hell I would even do a crew cab dually with a 4l65 built up, but it wouldn't be worked hard. Besides an occasional home depot run.

If you intend to work it hard I would add at least a 4l80 behind it, and save for the 6.0 when you get a chance.

Yea it wouldn't be worked hard at all. At the most my 18ft trailer with another vehicle on it.
