Not one new truck... TWO!

My buddy just swung a crazy deal. He traded a plow Jeep for a 62 C20 LWB Fleetside! In progress project. Frame is mint, nice cab, needs bed work. 350/350 from mid 80s in it. Good deal. It gets better. The guy had another truck, and lots of parts that he packaged for a bit of cash. A C30 dualie! 6 cyl. Only 64k miles. No spin diff, MINT MINT seat. Both have spare tire carriers (I get one!). Almost new tires on the dualie, and a bunch of sweet skinny bias plys for the C20 (that will go to someone else eventually).

The plan is to finish the build on the C20. Use the best parts from both trucks on the 20. Swap the 6 (recently rebuilt) into the 20, and put the 350 into the 30 and flip it. We'll take care of the mechanical systems on the 20, then start in on the bed. He's considering the options for paint/style.

Here's the pics for now. Yes, that's the owner's manual on the seat.

Re: Not one new truck... TWO!

You wouldn't believe the parts. He gets all that stuff on the bed of the dualie, and I filled my station wagon with much more. Bumper, extra grilles, cluster, mirrors, glass, etc.

This is going to be fun.

Have to figure out the ratios in those giant rear ends tomorrow when the truck is up in the air at the school shop. I'll take more pics!

Very nice score

But by the looks of it, I would say that the 235 just recently got a Krylon rebuild.

Re: Not one new truck... TWO!

I would keep the dually and flip the long bed but that's just me.

Is it a 235 or a 261? I don't know the visual differences (I'm searching now).

We're east end Ottawa, btw.

Why keep the dualie instead of the C20?

Re: Not one new truck... TWO!

Part two brought home today. We get there, and are starting to plan how to get the trailer over in the field where the truck is. There was a ditch in the way. The PO says, "let me get a battery, it'll start right up". I look at my buddy with a "yeah, I don't think so" face, and proceed to eat crow as the thing fires up after five seconds of cranking. No smoke, runs smooth, sounds great. We drove it around and right up to the back of the trailer. Brand new rad in it that might have to go in my truck...

I've already found a couple pieces of Custom side trim. Don't think there will be a full set, but nice to have spares!

Easiest way to tell a 261 from a 235 are the 2 vertical lines cast in the block right above the starter.

Yep, found that info yesterday. We'll pull the engines next week and check it then.
