Question How Do I Replace My Side Window?

I actually already own a couple of manuals on how to do this, my real question is... do I really need to remove the vent window assembly first just to remove the main side window? Has anyone done this before?

Also, I'm replacing the window trim and felt... does this require any special spray, glue, epoxy, etc. other than the kit itself that I bought from online?
I'd like to get all my materials upfront before I'm mid-way through and realize, I need to make a run to my local Auto-Zone.

Re: How Do I Replace My Side Window?

I was wondering that myself, because I have to do the same thing, but I'm afraid the answer is probably so. Otherwise, the window won't come out of the tracks because one of the tracks is the vent window. They are a real PITA to take out and put in, trust me.

From what I have seen - vent window comes out...

Here is a run-down on how to get that far...

Something else that will help, you can take the 3 screws out of the back track, push the main window back some, and gain some much needed space to work with the vent window frames. After reading some about removing the vent windows, it turned out to be not nearly as bad as I was expecting. Another tip is to cover any nearby painted areas of the door with blue painters tape, to help protect it from scratching.

I've done a couple. All I remember is that it's like a big puzzle you have to figure it out as you go. But yes, the vent needs to come out and as was said loosen that back track. I know that part until after I did mine. It will help alot.

I had a really difficult time with mine and was seriously considering driving my truck off a cliff until I discovered this. I ruined several sets of window tint and valuable time before I figured it out.

Re: How Do I Replace My Side Window?

Ok nobody warned me that the window is permanently attached to a metal track. How do I remove the window from the track without bending the track all to crap? And how do I put my new window onto the track? What special rubber, seal, epoxy do I need to use to make it stay?

Re: How Do I Replace My Side Window?

Knock it off with a flat steel, clean the channel and take it to a glass shop to get the rite rubber to put it back, unless u saved it (i doubt it)
then use a rubber malett to knock it back on,(go slow)make sure u put it back the same way u took it off,u can write on the glass with a magic marker

Can't help with the window question, but did do all my felts and division bars, no glue needed just push fit real clean and easy, though the old division bar felt doe's need cutting out.

Good luck with the rest.

So there's no glue or seal? It's just wedged tightly between a rubber channel? What's a flat steel? Can I use a large flathead screwdriver?
