I've been meaning to ask this question but seeing the picture in another thread reminded me. On my sons truck we have a bracket on one side of the frame in the rear but there's not a matching bracket on the other side. So what is this for?

Look at the attached picture and you'll see what I'm talking about. It's a little steel bracket that's on the side of the frame, just in front of the driver's side rear tire.

Edit: Well, looking at the picture now I can tell that this particular bracket sits above the axle with a bushing on it so I think I know what this particular bracket is. Maybe this picture doesn't show what I'm talking about. Let me look and see if I can find a picture of our truck.

OK here's a picture that actually shows what I'm talking about. Look just behind the drivers side tire welded to the side of the frame. There's a bracket there but there's nto one on the pass side. What is this bracket and should there be one on the pass side?

looks like a muffler bracket to me.(typically bolted/riveted) so a PO must of added that . most only had one and exited on the driver side. I have parted a couple of big block trucks that had duals and had the mounts on both sides. I posted a pic of some bigblock exhaust hangers, i have had in the past.

My67 is right it is a Exhaust bracket that looks to have been cut into. Both SB and BB used the same bracket, but a BB should have come with one on both sides.

I see now, yep you're right. It looks like the tail end of the bracket has been cut off. Thanks. I wonder if I can find this new? Not sure I'd want to replace it but I might. And I guess since i'm probably going to run duals I might try to find them for the BB and have them on both sides. Then again, my plan was to run my pipes straight out the back to cut down on the noise, so maybe I can get by without them. Thanks again.
