New guy w/'57 Chevy Panel

This is only the second vintage project I have ever owned and the first was over 20-years ago. I just bought a ‘57 Chevy ½ ton Panel and it has become a daily driver. I am loving it! It has Mustang2 front, older 350 w/electronic dist, Edlebrock carb & aluminum manifold, T400 3-speed and it drives nicely. You SoCal guys will understand when I say it is a former Helms Bakery truck.
I will start a separate thread with a few photos of my roof issue.

Looks like a nice truck.
Does it still have the smell of the donuts in it?

Re: New guy w/'57 Chevy Panel

task force was a designation by gm for the 55-2nd thru 59 trucks.
AD or advanced design was assigned to the 47 thru 55-1st
K/C designation from 60 to 98
silverado from 99 to present

Re: New guy w/'57 Chevy Panel

Okay, that clears up a bunch of Chevy history.
What makes a '55 Panel a "1st"? My first vehicle was a '55 Panel when I was 16, in 1968.
Thanks!

Re: New guy w/'57 Chevy Panel

That's a good looking panel. and the stance is right on the money.

The only Task Force truck I've had was a 57 Panel that had an extremely stout 327 in it. No gas mileage but it would stay with a 750 Honda bike for a long city block. It had been a former dry cleaners truck and still had the racks for the hangers in it when I bought it.
