Air Compressor / DIY. ?
I am thinking of building a Compressor at a shop, Where I have some of my Machine Tool Machines located.
I am going to try to use what I have, And make it even Better without Creating another Huge Project. I have a Very good compressor at my House. I am trying to stay away from having a high dollar Compressor that I don't use much. Here is my Idea for this location. At this location the 2 compressor's that are there/ One is in sad shape, But the tank is good and also has a good Vertical tank plumbed in. The other one the Compressor is (Wore Out) and weak, It still builds air but takes a LONG Time. But the Tank is good , The Motor still runs, Will I Use that motor? Ytbd. My first plan is to buy this. Link: https://www.harborfreight.com/air-to...ump-59193.html Then I will plumb the other tanks into it. I will possibly have 1 of the tanks by my main machine inside the garage. The other 2 tanks will be in the Air Compressor shed outside. If the old Motor does not work out, I will get this one. Link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...DKIKX0DER&th=1 Then a pulley from here. Link: https://www.zoro.com/tb-woods-58-fix...58/i/G0948236/ I may need a new Pressure switch. They are reasonably priced though. Then the Icing on the cake. I plan to run a Condenser /Water filter combo something like in the video below. What do ya'll think? It's not really about the price as much as using what I have that is still good.

Morning young man...
If it was my choice, I would not be looking to layout some $340 plus to try and save the old system...and wonder if the tanks are really that good.... Any reason why you need 3 HP ? I have this unit in my shop and it works great, is mobile if necessary and its a reasonable price... https://www.harborfreight.com/29-gal...sor-58507.html Just my 2 cents worth... Have a great year...

Re: Air Compressor / DIY. ?
And a differing opinion, I always try to reuse/repurpose as much as I can so I understand the motivation to use what you have.
I will throw this in though, I have a buddy who had his tank and compressor under a lean-to outside of his shop. A 60 gallon standup. He wasn't very good at draining the tank on a regular basis and one day he was in the shop and his compressor tank blew out the bottom, took off like a rocket, and broke one of the 2x6's of his lean-to. Check out those tanks as well as you can.

Yeah, The tanks not being as good as I think they are, Has been on my mind. Also Creating another project has been on my mind also. I did find out the motor on the old one will work. I still debating, The compressor you posted will probably win .

I have checked 2 (as well as I can) of them and they checked okay . The other one Still has the Big Motor and compressor on it so I can roll it around and shake it. The new compressor that AussieinNC linked will probably win the contest. Because that will eliminate another Project.

Re: Air Compressor / DIY. ?
I was wondering about this for 2 reasons.
1st reason: This is what HF suggested. 2nd reason is a 5HP is cheaper. So, is More Better? In this case?
