I Can't believe some people
Came home saturday morning to find my truck had moved 4 feet from where I parked it. I live on a very small court and the two CHP officers who came to my house said that the person had to be travelling at a speed of 85mph to do the damage it caused......I think he's an idiot considering no one could get up to that speed on my court, but none the less who ever did it must be in a lot of pain(hopefully). This truck was my high school graduation present from my dad and to top it off I just spent 2700 on getting the th400 rebuilt...

Re: I Can't believe some people
Man that sucks... My son just had his car totaled while parked in front of our house a few weeks ago... Insurance didn't give him enough money to buy another in the same shape...
Wish you luck on getting yours taken care of. Tony |

Re: I Can't believe some people
That isn't an 85 MPH hit. If it was you would have sustained a lot more damage that that...the frame doesn't appear to be damaged from the pics.Bummer though...

Re: I Can't believe some people
Wow that suckss... a buddy of mine lives on the top of a T intersection, a drunk driver hit the berm in front of his house, flew into his dads old jaguar(dont know what year) and moms trail blazer, totaled both, missed his house by about 10 feet. They got him; I hope you find the guy who hit yours and good luck in getting back in shape...

Re: I Can't believe some people
No word on catching the person. I actually have been calling all the collision shops in my city and the surrounding cities as well. And yes there is some frame damage unfortunately.

Re: I Can't believe some people
We feel for you, probably someone in a rice burner, a good frame shop can tweak the frame back, its maybe only the last two feet of frame. Honestly my wife doesn`t know where you live....

Re: I Can't believe some people
What else can be said besides - man that sucks. I'm a little surprised whatever hit it could drive away. My 54 Chevy sedan got clobbered years ago by a brand new Rambler. The new car was left bleeding in the street with a buckled hood, ruptured radiator, broken headlights and flat tire. On my car the stainless bumper bolt cap was torn off and my tail light was broken. I can only imagine the amount of damage your bumper must have caused.

Re: I Can't believe some people
You ought to be able to find a shop that can do a good job of straightening your frame in that area. From the looks of the pictures, the damage doesn't appear to be anything that would compromise the safety or ride of your truck. It could even be minor enough that with a fixed or replaced bed you might not be able to notice (don't take me as trying to tell you not to fix it, I'm just trying to remain optimistic). Again bro, I am sorry to see this happen.

Re: I Can't believe some people
Whats funny is that there isnt one speck of paint on my truck from the other car and no oil or radiator fluid on the ground!!!!! All I found was two pieces of the cars foam from the bumper and one tiny grey piece of plastic about 1 inch long

Re: I Can't believe some people
85 mph or not, that is a wicked shot, to mash the wrap-around bumper, like that. I think your rig was hit by something close in weight and size or there would be a wok full of rice sitting on your court, just behind your truck. There should have been a loud enough crash, that everyone in the neighborhood could hear it, judging from the damage.
Maybe the bikini-clad lady in the last photo did it.... Good luck getting things back in order! |

That does suck big time.....it does look fixable though. Yeah I know pictures don't show everything. Good luck on finding the a**hole that hit it and ran.

I see the twist in the bed and that just makes me cringe. Sorry to see your beauty banged up like that, I hope the frame damage can be repaired.

Re: I Can't believe some people
Actually, the bumper may be what caused the bedside to buckle. All of those that I've seen bolt to the bed side which would transfer that energy into the sheetmetal.
Either way that sucks, man. People have such little respect for others these days. I hope everything works out for you and they find the imbecile that did it.

Re: I Can't believe some people
Wow, that hurts just lookin' at it.
Would the person walking in the background of the last pic have been walking past when it happened? I probably wouldn't have been watching the road myself. |

Re: I Can't believe some people
I had a 65 rear-ended (girlfriend driving, stopped on an on-ramp) at about 50-60, bit worse than yours; worse part was fighting insurance, but a little frame-straightening did the trick

Re: I Can't believe some people
I sure hope it can be bent back like all of you are saying. I don't have any tools except a couple screw drivers and wrenches, so I'm out of luck on fixin it myself. I'm supposed to find out how much insurance money I get back tomorrow. Hopefully good news.

Re: I Can't believe some people
I can throw a jack under either side of my truck ( shortbed) and it would look just like yours, so it dosen`t take much to throw it off, bed side though might be repairable with a good body man...if not start looking for a straight long bed side panels in your area.

Re: I Can't believe some people
Hey, bummer deal. I live in Antioch and I'm finishing up a bathroom overhaul in Concord tomorrow (Friday). If you want I can come and check it out. I'm no expert but I can throw in my 2 cents worth of knowledge. I hope you can get that baby back on the road. I am sending you a PM. Get back to me if you want.

Re: I Can't believe some people
I have a hard time agreeing that was an 85 MPH crash. IF you need a replacement fender 456 chevy probally has one.
Also not too off point, the crash pics were doing great until the last one where I forgot about the truck.
