Re: Best 4" lift for big block V6 GMC and pics?

Hi, I have a 67 Chevy K-10. A few years ago, around 1996 I changed the 1/2 ton springs for 3/4 ton springs along with shocks. this gave me about 2" of lift. Now many years later I am rebuilding the truck again. It is a driver. The front springs have settled 1/2 inch over time. I carefully measured it out before pulling the engine. I intend to build 3" blocks to go between the rear axle and springs. 3 1/2 inch blocks for the front. Then I will figure out what length of shocks I need. The steering will be another issue to get set up as well. I think it will work. I will use new U-bolts too.
I will get you some detailed pictures as I get deeper into it.

Just an fyi Blocks up front are a big no no. As for which kit, I'd stay away from the soft ride kits as they have softer springs. This is the delimma one faces when trying to keep a 3/4 ton when lifting. I'm gonna have my local spring shop build me a set of springs that will keep my K/20 3/4 ton. Sorry I can't speak for which over the counter kit will do what you need.

At the bottom of this article it explains Why front blocks are bad.

I would give Off-road designs a call. I know they will have a solution for you. I will NEVER buy an off the self lift spring again. yes, you do spend a little more for the springs, but its absolutely worth it, if you don't want your truck to ride like a basketball... or a brick on steel wheels....

I'm not really that concerned with how it rides as much as the springs not sagging from the weighy of the engine. I live near St Louis and there is a place called stl spring I guess I will give them a call or some other places and just get custom Springs.

In my opinion your better off that way because they can build the springs to your application rather than the opposite.
