cutting wing window frame on blazer doors.

Hey everyone i need your opinion I found a guy on craigslist selling 2 new blazer doors from lmc he is asking a resonabile price I think but he cut the post for the wing window and moved it to fit the windshield frame better then welded it back on. Has anyone heard of doing this before he says people do this all the time it just scares me cause I dont want to get them then take them home and have to cut the post again to re fit it. Any comments would be appreciated thanks.

Never heard of that needing to be done. Are you sure he isn't saying he bought LMC truck doors and cut them down to be Blazer doors - people cut truck doors to make Blazer doors occasionally.

Re: cutting wing window frame on blazer doors.

I don't see any reason to cut the post. Wind wings are bolt ins, so if he removed those by cutting, the doors are probably damaged.

I'd guess Yukon hit the nail on the head. He probably bought truck doors before Blazer doors were offered as re-pops and cut them down. Have him send you photos of the doors and where he cut them. Post them here and someone will know what is going on.

Re: cutting wing window frame on blazer doors.

The factory assembly manual outlines where to cut on the truck doors. I'd check with WES at Classicheartbeat.com if you're looking for repops.

GQ has OE rust free Cali truck doors, like Bouncy said, use the manual, measure 10 times, cut once

Maybe that's what happened to vent frame - they decided to measure once, cut, reweld & cut again.

Re: cutting wing window frame on blazer doors.

I think people are reading the original post wrong. The guy had cut the repro doors and moved the front portion closer to the door frame to close in the gap. I have a Goodmark door that I can put my fingers through the gap.

Yes you can cut the top of the door and move things around, seen it done, and the windows will know no different.

I quess the problem with the doors will be when they were cut to match the original jamb. Only thing you can do is try to make them work, or cut them again.
