Re: '77 front clip on '86 cab
You'll need to modify the wiper posts, as well as where the hood hinge goes into the cab. It's not as easy as it sounds. Your wiper posts will need to be 73-80 because of the way the cowl is connected to the hood on those years.

Re: '77 front clip on '86 cab
The easiest way I have found to put the 70's fenders on to an 80's truck, is to drill all the spot welds out of the bracket that bolts to the cab. After you have the brackets off of both sets of fenders, cut the front end off of the brackets that you took off of the 80's fenders and weld them up to the 70's fenders. Then you have to get everything bolted up, remove the rivets from the front body mounts and relocate them. The wipers will need to be replaced as mentioned.

Re: '77 front clip on '86 cab
I have never done this swap, so I can't be 100% sure but I see some information that doesn't conform to everything I have ever read about this swap.
You do not need to modify "where the hood hinge goes into the cab" as the 77 hinges bolt to the fenders. You do not need to modify the wiper stands, you need to swap the 77 stands when you swap the entire front clip. You do not need to remove the rivets from the front body mounts and relocate them if you swap the early bushings along with the entire front clip. Did I miss any?
