Stuck lug nuts

Anyone know a good way to bust free stuck lug nuts? I tried everything, from the stock wrench to a socket wrench with a4ft pipe on the end, still nothing. any tips? I also tried some wd-40 and pb blaster, still nothing.

I use a 4 way lug wrench. My problem is that tire shops and auto repair shops use air guns to reinstall the lug nuts and over torque them. I have sheared off wheel studs trying to remove a lug nut, so be careful. If you do shear one off, installing new studs is not expensive but is a pain.

I've had the tire shops cross thread the lug nuts. Only way I got it off was an air chisel. Depending on the rim (and if damage is a concern) you may try some heat on the lug nut.
Also if you have access try an air gun.

Anymore I request the shops to not use an air gun. I'd rather no be on the side of the highway and stuck because of something like that.

I soaked them for a bit and used a impact forward and reverse and it seems to do the trick.

If the truck is drivable, then I would drive it for a while then try as soon as u get back. Also I would spray it with wd40 and let it sit for a while. Let that oil penetrate.

Be careful using too much heat on a rim/tire full of air, they can explode. let the air out.

Try a nut splitter

I like the nut splitter idea if all else fails. You can pick up a lot of factory lug nuts at the automotive recycling center for a few dollars.

i have always had good luck with my 4ft braker bar. but thats not always the best. heat is good even a small propane one can work well.

The best penetrant (by actual testing on homemachinist forum) is a 50/50 mix of acetone and ATF. You can get acetone at the drug store. They sell it in pint plastic bottle as cheap nail polish remover. Drip it on the lug nuts and let it work overnight.

Do not have any ignition source anywhere near acetone, ever.

The solution is muscle and new studs after you twist the old ones in half where ever the nut is stuck at.

WD40 is NOT a penetrating oil. There are much better alternatives and work far better.

Try tightening them first - use a 4-way and that four foot cheater you mentioned. Then, even if they don't appear to move, quickly try backing them off - in the normal CCW direction.

I try that too,works sometimes,my warped 1/2 inch breaker,fits in my floor jack handle...
