221 transfer case any experts?

having problems adjusting my t/f case shift linkage. seams to (at times) to not want to go all the way into 2hi. (not hitting the floor) seems like 4hi gear is rubbing not completely disengaged. Make an offal squealing sound. any thoughts? also when i had it on jack stands (all for wheels off the ground) running in 4hi the ft driveshaft is bent. could see it moving up and down some. new r&p in ft axle and new u-joints. No dents are scrape marks on d/s. It never ends lol!

Re: 221 transfer case any experts?

Mine was always really difficult to shift. Usually would go from 2wd to 4wd just fine. Getting it back out was a different story. I would have to get under the truck with a large screwdriver or small pryer. The shifter and linkage was somewhat cobbled together by the p.o. I also attributed it to the straight cut gears. Never did figure it out before the 205 went in. Still need linkage and a front shaft for the 205 at this point.
Im not sure how the shift detents are set up in the 221 but remember thinking that they may have had burs that needed filing or an adjustment. That was just a thought before i gave up on it. Im no expert past putting a set of seals and bushings on that case.
