I bought mine off of eBay and I have a couple extra non-locking caps.

I have this BRAND NEW CHROME one I will send to your door for 7 bucks! Why use the gas to go to the parts store at this price. LOL.

I bought three of them with some other parts. If you can buy them for $7 locally, that is what you need to do. $7.50 including tax but not gas or your time sounds like a good deal to me. Do you have the GM part number? If not I can get it for you when I get home tonight.
I was thinking of Christmas presents when I got them though I might be using two of them for saddle tanks.

Looks like a NAPA part and not a GM part but the price is excellent.

Re: gas cap

I got one sitting in my glove box because I purchased a locking cap to secure my most expensive truck accessory. The locking cap looks awful! When the gas gauge gets to 1/4 tank, then I can afford to put the chrome cap back on.

Re: gas cap

I was using a napa one just like the one Mike Files shows. I sold it with my nearly new tank, sending unit, float and gas lines recently for $60.

Mike Files has a good rep in the Reviews forum for his sales and that's a good price, good product. I'd hop on it if you're not pressed for time.

Re: gas cap

You might want to also think about a locking gas cap with the price of gas today. Yes, they do cost more. About double I think.

The Stant 10623 cap is sold at just about every auto parts store for about $7 and works just fine.

Re: gas cap

One thing on the locking gas caps...winter is coming, and if you get water in the lock, and it freezes, you WON'T be gassing up untill it melts.
2 winters ago i actually had to use a propain tortch to melt the ice in mine....yes, I know... I like living on the wild side I guess. I didn't have enough fuel to make it to work, so i had very little choice in the matter.

Re: gas cap

In the winter months I put the non-locking cap back on. Yes, it is just like the locks on doors. They can freeze up. But I use the locking cap spring till winter. Propain tortch? Would not want to be around you when you do that. Andy, have you ever heard of the word "BOOM"? But this year I think I will just try to put some tape over the key hole. That should stop the ice from getting in.

Sorry to have offended you Mr. Mike Files. I was only responding to the original post regarding parts stores. You made a very generous offer.

You did not offend me straight away, it's all for the fun of helping others here!
Ohh, if I was anymore calm my old lady would say I would be late for my own departure in to the EX-Files! Dude breath deep yourself and check how many you have helped here! Otherwise pick on someone else maybe? It is SO much fun selling here and trying to help others!

Re: gas cap

One word of advice, don't buy the black plastic ones, the rubber seal doesn't last and the cap will leak like hell. I had one of those chrome ones on my truck, but I went to car-quest and bought one of the locking stainless caps with the red WARNING REMOVE SLOWLY around the keyhole. I paid 16 bucks but it's worth it.

Re: gas cap

Not meant to offend anyone though to provide information.

This is a picture of a new ACDelco gas cap, PN 6410233 and/or GT54. The local Chevy dealer did not have any in stock when I bought these off of eBay. Actually I don't think it is much different than the NAPA gas cap. Hope this helps.

That is the exact same sticker as on the STANT one I bought the other day after running over my 3 month old cap.
