under dash ac

hi I have viewed this site many times getting help just never posted anything. live in Nashville tn. I was at the junk yard and seen an under the dash ac in a 72 lwb was wondering how can you check and see if it is any good, or what is it worth. I have a 72 cheyenne (swb) with air now, but was just wondering

I had one that was sold at JC Penny's in my truck when I bought it. I was told it worked, but it looked like crap and took up a lot of leg room. One of the first things I did was rip it all out.

There was a York compressor on the passenger side and an added pully on the crank to run it. There was also a seperate cooler mounted in front of the radiator and 2 hoses that ran into the cab.

If your truck is an original A/C truck, I would stick to that and maybe just replace the broken parts. It looks a lot better and doesn't take up the sort of space as the under dash setup did.
