Big block motor mounts

Hi there. Just a quick question. I have a 71 GMC that I just put a 454 into in place of the stock 350. I used the big block rubber mounts and the small block frame stands. Everything bolts up fine using all the factory holes. My question is does the big block stands move the engine location any? I know they are shaped different for exhaust clearance , but is that the only differance? Thanks.

Not positive, but i think they lower the engine a little also.

Re: Big block motor mounts

I used the small block stands when I first put a big block in my '69. Worked well but exhaust (headers) was real tight. I have big block stands now...way more exhaust clearance.

Re: Big block motor mounts

Thank you. I would use the big block mounts but cant find a set for a decent price. Found one set new and the guy wanted $500 for them. So I figured i would just notch the small block ones to clear my Sanderson headers. I just was worried the small block ones would have the big block in the wrong position and I would have fan to rad issues or firewall issues.

If you already have the BB uppers all you need are BB frame stands right? Should be a lot less than $500.00. Think the application splits are 68-71 and 72 only.

Re: Big block motor mounts

IIRC if you didnt care about being year correct, the square brackets worked fine.

Re: Big block motor mounts

When we put the 454 in my '71 the small block stands would not work with the headers I had so we used the BB mounts and stands that came with the '74 454 and they worked fine.

Re: Big block motor mounts

lol wow thanks everyone that was easy. My one question is do they lower or move the engine forward or back from where the small block has it? My oil pan is pretty tight right now for height to the crossmember.
