1964 Chevy firetruck, whats it worth?
Our fire dept is about to liquidate our old 1964 firetruck, cab is rust free as far as I can see, Ill check the mileage next time im up there but I know its low mileage. 327 with an auto.
Just trying to figure out what the real world says its worth, the town wants it gone but not real sure how to go about it. I know there is someone on here that can lead me in the right direction. I can get more pictures as well.

Procedures vary by municipality. What you need to do is contact the Purchasing agent for the City/County that owns it. If there isn't a specific purchasing agent, talk to the finance director. Also contact the Fleet Supervisor. It's usually their job to evalute the fleet and surplus them out.
They should have a process for surplusing out vehicles. Find out what that process is and let them know that you want to be notified when the surplus process begins.

Our dept. uses www.govdeals.com to auction surplus items.

Some muncipalities do a sealed bid after advertizing it in a local paper , nowadays with the internet alot of them just put it on ebay or a goverment bidding site ... to figure what it is worth search the web and see what they have sold for .....

The Auto Trans is rare. Something I would not want, but someone else may be impressed by that.
Seal Bids seem to be a good way to go, especially if you have a "right to reject all or any of the bids". Looks like a C-60. Bill

Re: 1964 Chevy firetruck, whats it worth?
We have sold ours in the past with sealed bids, that is how I got my 78. As far as worth, that is really up for interpretation. I paid $1500 for my 78 in great condition, great paint, 77k miles, but the pump skid was already removed. Someone could buy that one on the cheap, sell/scrap the pump, scrap the bed, and make a nice flatbed/farm truck out of it.

Seal bids, public auction or online. These trucks are plentyful, usually do not bring big money.
