71 C20 Front track width

Anybody know of a way to decrease the track width on a 71 C/20? Reason I ask is that I 20 x 8 Detroit Steel wheels on my truck, the tires are just about flush with the front fender lip. Naturally it rubs a little when the suspension compresses. My wheels have 4.5" back spacing already, DS says the max backspacing is 4.75". I don't think another 1/4" is going to be enough.

Any ideas?

Chances are if the track was narrowed you would rub on the inside. a 1/4 inch is a lot when it comes to the big honk'n wheels. Have you thought about rolling the wheels lips, or is it hitting the inner fenderwheel first?

It’s rubbing at the top of the inner fender- right where the bolts for the inner fender are. I replaced the hex head bolts with button heads but it didn’t help much. It rubs between the 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock location.
