I've seen polished aluminum diamondplate. Looked decent.
If you go with a metal of anysorts, maybe spray the back side of it with some spray on undercoating to knock down on the noise.

Re: custom "clean" door panels

I re painted mine and just didn't care for the look. Wanted something a little more custom but not over the top. Decided just to cover them in black medium grain vinyl. Use a 1/4 inch foam under the vinyl. I also put sound deadener on the back side and it definitely helped!Name: IMG_1977.jpg

Re: custom "clean" door panels

In my c30 I did kickplates in diamond plate and also to cover up the 4" difference between door sill and floor after a body drop since the factory carpet wasnt long enough anymore. It looked good on the black interior and matched the diamond plate tubs and notch cover I made in the bed but I think I would get real tired of it if I still had the truck or had door panels. and they would probably look out of place unless you did some other interior stuff in diamond plate. I think painted aluminum would look good.

Ive seen some door panels in brushed aluminum with bead rolls in them and I was 50/50 on them cuz it kinda looked like it belonged more in a in a pro-street truck. Either way LHM and kevmcrae are 100% right about the dynamat or wehatever kind of deadener. I never even thought about it until I made a 4 hour trip to a show. needless to say, the doorpanels were in the backseat on the way home. whose got pics?

Here's mine, I used a stock steel panel, 72 armrests, and machined a piece of wood to simulate the 72 style panel, built power window bezels to go in, and covered in black ultra leather. I think it's simple and clean.

Wow Greg, those are super nice looking. Im not usually a logo added in kinda guy, but the switch looks great. Not over powering like a lot of logo designs.

Door panels are so far off in the future for me I haven't even thought about them but I like this. A lot. Greg

Re: custom "clean" door panels

Thanks for the compliments! I was trying to keep it simple, I've seen too many wild or custom stuff that were just overkill. I put the pleats in to match the headliner. Here's a pic of the headliner. Sorry , not trying to hi-jack!

Re: custom "clean" door panels

^^ B-E-A-UTIFUL! I agree with CG 100% about the emblem. I honestly don't even like oem badges on my trucks, let alone extra bowties all over the place but your switch is simple and subtle. Love the headliner too. It looks really good with the space between the pleating. ok, now back to the original post..
