Need Factory Gauge Info

Have 67 c10 with idiot light panel. Went to the Charlotte auto fair last weekend and bought a full factory gauge cluster out of a 71. I'm going to order the gauge harness to install it. Question is, do I order the one for a 67 or 71, or is there any difference, in fact is there any difference between the idiot light harness and the full gauge harness other than sending units on the engine? I also have a power steering question, I have a power steering box out of a mid 70's GM product to convert my truck to power steering, it came with the pitman arm. Do I use the pitman arm that is on it or the one that is on the truck now(manual steering)?
Thanks Fellows

Re: Need Factory Gauge Info

As far as the wiring harness question, I am going out on a limb here, but I don't think there is a difference between say a 1967 and a 1971.

Hopefully someone with some more expertise will chime in.

I do think that there is a difference in the wiring harness as far as what pins it has and where they go. Not 100%, but I do think that you will need the gauge harness to convert. Trevor

The idiot light harness and gauge harness are different where it plugs into the back of the instrument cluster. You can change the wires around in the connector to make it work though.

I don't know if you are familiar with the FAQ Forum or not. Scroll down to the bottom of this page and you will see the "Forum Jump" box. Click on the little down arrow on the right side of the box and scroll down to "FAQ Truck Tech". On that page go down to "Thread / Thread Starter: FAQ Index Thread". When you get into that scroll down to the "Interior Related FAQ's". In that section you will see "Swapping from idiot lamp dash to a gauge dash "

I could have just posted a direct link but there is a lot of good info in the FAQ section and now the new people that read this thread will know how to get to it. Thanks to Krue for indexing the FAQ's
