GMC Valve Covers

I see all these valve covers available that say Chevrolet, but are there any that say GMC? I've done a little research, but I can't find any for a small block. Any help and pictures would help.

Thanks,
lowrollin

Re: GMC Valve Covers

It`s tough, ain`t it?It`s hard to come up with hi-perf. parts that don`t have a bowtie or say Chevy. The best we can do,sometimes,is go with generic.I have Corvette ones for my`67.I figure if you gotta have a Chevy in a GMC it might as well be a Vette.I have seen some with GMC.I think those M/T ones with fins were available with brands inscribed in the blank round area. Many are plain and you could scribe your own or put a medallion on there.
I want to run deep rims w/dog dish caps and am having a hard time coming up with a factory cap since there were no GMC cars.`60 Chevy caps have crossed flags with no bowtie.Looks like those will do.I considered Pontiac or other GM since that`s where most GMCs were sold as the truck offering.
Then,theres the car steering wheels....

Re: GMC Valve Covers

Thanks, in my years of catalog browsing, I haven't seen anything for GMCs, those BB valve covers look nice, but I think custom milling is out of my price range.

My biggest pet peeve is people saying nice Chevy, when the only badges I left on it say GMC, the dash has GMC welded in it, and the stereo has GMC badges above the speakers! I shall continue on in my quest for valve covers, I could always paint to match body color and do some pin stripe GMC script.

PS, for 67_C-30:

http://www.edmunds.com/gmc/history.html

After the General Motors Company was founded in 1908, it soon became known as one of the largest car manufacturers in the world. In 1909, the Grabowsky Rapid Motor Vehicle Company (GMC) joined with GM. The trade name GMC Trucks was first exhibited in 1912 at the New York Auto Show and was registered with the United States Patent Office eight months later. Now known as the high-end truck-building division of General Motors, the "GMC" in GMC Truck stands for General Motors Corporation.

Ignorance truly is bliss.

Back to the topic, if you do find a reasonable source of GMC valve covers, let me know, I'd love a set.

Re: GMC Valve Covers

not a gmc guy here but the idea is cool, i havent seen any either but, maybe someone could make a set. do you guys know of any gmc's in history that had the gmc script in metal on a glove box door or, hood or sign or something? similar to that on the tailgates that i see. what would be cool is to find someting like this, cut out the small gmc script and weld it into a set of blank stock stamped of gmc or chevy valvecovers, use body filler and such to make them look factory. i attached a pic of the tailgate script. this would take some effort but man they would be one of a kind.

Re: GMC Valve Covers

Wow! A little touchy aren't we? I thought the cute little fighting icons would relay the fact that it was a joke - ya know, that's why we have them.

As far as helping goes, since no one else actually has, you could always a get set of custom valve covers CNC machined, or you could get some custom decals for some generic covers. It would also look cool if you the Invader 350, 400, 454 decals that came on GMC Sprints. They are a factory GMC designation for the Chevy engine, and would be a neat addition to one of these trucks.

As far as horns caps and and hub caps, the GMC Sprint and GMC Caballero (both GMC versions of El Camino's, if everyone is not familiar) used them from 70 up to 87 with lots of different styles along the way. My brother had a what was basically a 70's Camaro/Firebird steering when with a GMC logo out of a mid 70's Sprint. Some years say Sprint, some day GMC. There were small GMC hubcaps and center caps for early 70's Ralley wheels with GMC logos too.

Re: GMC Valve Covers

here's a fairly cheap option.
Find some 305/351 V6 valve covers, and cur the GMC out of the center.
Cut out a hole in a set of plain steal SBC/BBC valve covers (what ever you need) and have the GMC part welded in.
Paint to match.
Or;
Spend big money and have them chromed.
If you know a good welder, you could have this done for anywhere from a case of his fave beer, to 50 bucks. If you don't know any real good welders, maybe 100 - 150.

too bad you don't have the 305 V6 or you could get the plaid covers from 1963

Re: GMC Valve Covers

hmmm...

i was thinking was Andy was thinkin'. but he beat me to it.

it could work well. if i'm not mistaken, they have the script old style GMC on them. i'll have to check the 305 valve covers out back.

could be a fun project. now if only i have an extra set of stock valve covers to play with..hmm...

Sound like some good ideas to me.

I'm not touchy, I just get tired of the GMC/Chevy crap, why can't we get along and hate on the Fords and Dodges?

When I worked for a gasket company in Mena,AR you could have Street and Performance put just about anything on a set of valve covers..

Re: GMC Valve Covers

Welding in script sounds oddly familiar...

Almost like my dash?

Any measurements on the old GMC tailgates? But I'd be hesitant to cut up two gates, I think I've seen decal sets for the old gates that could work on a flat cover. And V6 covers would be within my cutting range. I have ran Invader decals on the last motor in this pickup, looked nice, but they don't roll with the theme now.

As for the fighting, I'm just jealous that somebody has a dually and I don't click on smilies (could make my tone clearer) (well, most of the time I don't add them.)

And simple math proves it 4>2.
