Moon Center caps for stock wheels

Does anyone know where to get moon center caps that will fit the stock wheels on our trucks. I am gonna sandblast and prime my wheels and just roll with center caps. I dont like the full diameter stock caps that are on it now. Thanks in advance.

Re: Moon Center caps for stock wheels

Hey Andy, I was thinking of the baby moons. I wanted some that would lock in on the hump right outside the bolt circle. As you already know there are I think 3 notches or bumps stamped in the wheel on the ring right outside the bolt circle that look like they would hold some baby moons. I just haven't seen any anywhere for sale for our stock wheels. I should have taken a pic of the wheels I have, I know the PO said they were the originals. Thanks man.

Re: Moon Center caps for stock wheels

All the Wheel Vintiques dealers sell them. They are know as Baby Moons and are known as hubcap(dog dish) and what`s on your truck are wheelcovers.Center cap is a term for what covers lugs/trims out the center of an open wheel, like a rallye wheel or mag.
Here`s an idea...did you know that Chevy had a car cap in this era that was a baby moon with a bowtie stamped into the center? Those would be the bee`s knees if you want baby moons.

Re: Moon Center caps for stock wheels

Thanks Tim. I went to the Wheel Vintiques site and couldn't tell if the baby moons would fit the stock wheels or if they were made for the ralleys. I will look into those.

My dad had the bowtie moons on our 63 Chevy II wagon. I was hoping to find out if those are 5 or 6 lugs. My guess is 5 lug wheels but don't know.
I would like to see some baby moons on 6 lugs. I think thats unlikely with the size of the cap needed.
This was one of only a few threads I could find on my search.

Re: Moon Center caps for stock wheels

I hunted for some baby moons a couple of years ago, but couldn't find any. Would still like to have some to fit my 70 steel wheels.

Re: Moon Center caps for stock wheels

I used to rock the baby moons with wide trim rings on my truck. iirc I think I got them at my local NAPA.
this was prolly 10 years ago, don't know if they still stock them, but they can prolly order them for ya.

Re: Moon Center caps for stock wheels

I feel your pain when it comes to finding baby moons. I looked for awhile at swap meets and even bought some from a wheel dealer. I couldn't get them to fit my rims which have 4 notches. I had given up until one day while buying some stuff at Oreillys one of the workers there came in up to me and told me he had something I needed. To my surprise he had a set of baby moons that he has had for 15 years or so. Needless to say he sold them to me for 60.00 which was a steal imo. That is why when I buy something for my truck I only go to oreillys. Good luck in your hunt.

50.00 here........http://www.rallyamerica.com/old_school_acc/index.html

Look at the Spyder caps right next to the moons. (3/4 down the page)
with some chrome acorn nuts that would look cool !
