Need some helpful advice.. '69 c10
I was recently givin' a '69 Chevy c10 fleetside with a 350 engine. The truck hasn't ran I assume in the last 10 years, since that is the last time it was tagged.
I am fairly new to carburated engines though I am not knew to working on cars, just mostly worked on smaller imports. I have been trying to get this thing to start up for a month or so now. I can't get it to fire. I have replaced the battery, ignition coil, point set, condensor, distributor cap/rotor, ignition switch/cylinder, and spark plugs. I have no spark at the plug or at the cap. It turns over and is getting fuel pressure, all it does is crank though. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

you need to test for power at the ignition coil. turn the key to the on position and test the wires hooked up to the coil to see if you have 12 volts.

Ahh, Didn't even think of that. I will try that tonight as long as its not raining. lol

Welcome from Northern California. Yep, time to break out the test light & check for power to the coil, then power to the points, check dwell, firing order. You must have a gearhead near you that's into Chevys, that might come and take a look. Good luck to you, post some pics when you get a chance.

I had one shear the gear off the shaft of the distributor at the camshaft. Motor turned over but the distributor wasnt turning to fire any cylinders.

Thanks guys! I work at a dodge dealership here in oklahoma, and don't know tooo many chevy guys as far as the older stuff goes. I have another '70 chevy pickup with a 327 in it that needs rebuilt that DID run. So I have been running back and fourth from them. I'll get some pictures up soon.

I just had my timing chain come off mine. Symptoms are similar you just have to look in valve cover and see if any thing is moving. I had no spark and my hei rotor was not turning.
