Fuel gauge wire to rear

Just put in a blazer tank in the rear in my 72 and m looking for ideas how everyone routed their fuel gauge wire to the rear. Mine comes off the fuse panel but I'm looking for a nice way to route it to the rear. Through the firewall to the rear?
Any suggestions?

Re: Fuel gauge wire to rear

I'd run it through the fire wall along with the wires for the tail, brake, and back up lights. I ran those wires in that new style wire wrap that looks like those old Chinese finger torture things we played with when we were kids. It's made of a braided nylon and wraps in on itself for a very clean look. Look at Summit or Jegs under wiring looms.

I need a tank soon. What year blazer tank did you use? How was it to install and route the filler tube? Any pictures of the install?

Re: Fuel gauge wire to rear

Hello-
I purchased the relocation kit and straps from classic industries. It wasnt that difficult to install. I ran the sending wire through a hole on the firewall down the frame rails and to the unit itself. I ran two 6' hard fuel lines from under the cab where they went to the factory tank
Ive yet to install the fuel filler, but I plan on putting in the rear stake pocket.

Re: Fuel gauge wire to rear

What year blazer tanks fit in a 72 c10? I have access to a couple but don't want to call in a favor if it won't fit. Thanks.

This is the one I bought.

You will need to modify your rear cross sill on your bed for this to fit. About 2- 2 1/2 inches or so. Then its about running your fuel lines and then deciding how you want to mount your fuel filler. There is a bed filler option as well if you dont want to route it to the the side.

Re: Fuel gauge wire to rear

Great. Thanks a lot. I just need to figure out how I want to fill it. For those of you that have done it, can it be fill behind the license plate like on old cars?

Re: Fuel gauge wire to rear

Not with this tank. You would need a camaro tank to do that.
