4 eyes needs help ......69 GMC

I just got hell of a deal on a 69 GMC. I have stripped it down and starting the rebuild. I am wanting to do a disc brake conversion on the front, but want to keep it 6 lug.
The real question is.....what is a good drop combo for the front-back? 3"-5"?

I dont want to cut anything to make the drop, shackles, leaf spring and drop spindles would be the way to go. Is that possible? or is there a different combo? I know 2 1/2 spindles are what I see for sale on most sites, but I think I would like it a little lower than 2 1/2 in front.

What is a good tire/wheel size to get? I would like to use Ralley Sport rims..maybe 10" on back and 8" in front. I have seen several trucks that I like that have this set up.

Also....I am trying to do this as cheep as possible. What is the best??

Thanks!
Jody

Go to early classic enterprises for the disc brake swap, they have the whole kit for I think $899, this includes 6 lug disks, drop spindles, calipers, hardware...everything. If you want to go lower then get some drop springs to go along with it. For the rear you can either get drop leaves and shakles or do a flip kit (requires cutting the spring perches off the axle and relocating them to the top, for about 5" of drop). Hope this helps get you started!

Here's the link for the kit I was talking about, you have to find the options you want from the drop down menu, it is $859.

I forgot to mention if you wanted to go cheaper you could also get all the parts from a newer truck and then just buy the 6 lug rotors from ECE.

You can either get the parts off of a 71-72 or if you get the whole crossmember off of a 73-82 if I remember right. There are lots of people on here that have done the 73-82 swap and they say it bolts right up other than having to oval out 2 of the wholes on the frame. I'll see if I can find a link for you.

Heres all the info you need http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...ossmember+swap.

Look at the second post to see how the swap was accomplished (using what year parts). I guess you can use anywhere from 73-87 parts, but the 81-87 are lighter duty (1" thick vs 1.25" for the older ones). I think the 6 lug rotors from ECE I mentioned above will fit anything with a 1.25" rotor.
