my truck's history - via trash inside

well, I did a major clean out of the truck today.

Through this clean out (including lifting up the rubber mat, crawling over and under and removing the seat, I think I have been able to piece together the history of my truck.

First, the earth cooled, then flash forward to 1969.. Truck was built in Northern California..

June 1971 - Owner is late on his water bill, receives a statement and it gets lost under the seat of the pick-up (Simi Valley, Ca).

1974 Parking ticket in Santa Clara, California, new owner.. lost it behind the tank..

1975 Current Owner enjoy's smokeless tobacco, as evident by the Copenhagen can that found its way into the void in front of the gas tank.

1979 Another Owner ponders joining the "Good Sam Club" fills out half of the application, tosses it under the floor mat.

1981 Another Owner, enjoys the spanis version of the Southern California Auto Trader.. stuffs a few pages into one of the passenger side AC Vent..

1985 Another owner purchases 14 dollars worth of lotto tickets. somehow these ended up stuck in the bed next to the talegate.. none were winners

1990 Moving Violation in Salinas, CA - Unsafe Lane Change. Shame on you Mr. Gonzalez.. Shame..

1994 Minute Order for Mr Gonzalez for his D.U.I from Merced County Superior Court.. serve 90 days and 2 years probation..

2006 (December) Mr. Perez is arrested in Santa Nella, CA and truck is impounded. I receive it in a Lien Sale (trade actually for some computer work)..

thought it was interesting stuff before it went into the trash..

my first car, a 68 cougar, I found papers from 79 IIRC, where a lady was commited for reasons of mental defect.
That's the only neat garbage i have found.

Well, the Fort Hood MP dogs did find that dime bag in the GMC right after buying it... but that was more panic causing than neat.

Re: my truck's history - via trash inside

I bought my '71 Chevy C-10 in August last year in Southeast Missouri.

My son and I were amazed with the very small amount of rust, both rockers and one cab corner. These 3 areas were rust throughs but the floor of the cab and the bed were near perfect with only surface rust.

As I cleaned out the cab I found a little loose change, an ice scraper, an umbrella, half of a sun shade and a 2000 map of Albuquerque in it. The rear bumper had a New Mexico Sheriff and Police Association decal. The camper shell was made by a New Mexico company.

All this led me to believe that my truck was in New Mexico until at least the year 2000 and that is why the truck was so rust free.
