Drop Spindle Selection

I hate to be the guy to post another drop spindle question, but here goes.

I am looking to order drop spindles tonight and am trying to decide between ECE and CPP. It is my understanding that ECE spindles will move the wheels out about an inch and CPP will keep the wheels in the stock location.

My goal is to build a moderate performance street truck. I am probably not going more drop than the spindles will give me, so I don't think I absolutely need the wheels tucked in. I am just looking for good handling.

My question is will the ECE springs giving the wider stance make a difference in handling? I always thought wider was better. ECE has also helped me out in the past, so I would like to use them.

Thanks

Re: Drop Spindle Selection

is this on your 71?

Drop spindles widen the track width if you are converting from drum to disc because stock height disc spindles are wider than drum spindles. You wont have a width difference with drop spindles if your vehicle already has discs. CPP sells 2 different spindles, standard width and "modular" spindles. Modulars narrow up the width of disc breaks for fatter tires so you dont rub the fenders.

Wider is better but I dont know if you will notice a big difference from that 1.5" of extra track width.

I would go with ECE and there McGaughys drop spindles.

drop spindles are the way to go...you get the drop you want and dont lose the geometry of your suspension
