Weight on Springs?

Can anyone give me an ideal what the extra weight, from a diesel motor, how it changes the front leaf springs? I am figuring the weight difference from the sbc 350 to the 6.2L is about 200-250 lbs....with that said, how many inches do you think a good leaf pack would sag with the heavier weight added. 2 inches maybe? Thanks in advance!

There's your answer. Truthfully,it doesn't make any difference. The same goes for a big block. Maybe if they were coils it would matter, but leafs are some weight handling S.O.B.s. And,especially front springs being so short. I have put lift springs on three 6.2 trucks and never gave it a thought. Two were with Tuff Country EZ-rides.

Re: Weight on Springs?

Is there that much of a weight difference? Personally I think you'll be fine.
The dealerships hung plows on these and they were up to 700-800 pounds added and never changed the springs.

I'm kinda like duct tape- no real purpose, but handy to have around.

Re: Weight on Springs?

This is interesting. Why do some lift companies sell you a different front spring for a big block vs. a small block?

Mando...how you liking them 235/85's? I think I am going with same size, but probably with Cooper S/T's. I do like the Firestones too! That truck of yours is kick ass looking!

Yeah, I wondered why they sell two different springs also. Did they do that with you?

Do they really? I've never seen them listed that way. Same springs for 1/2,3/4,and 1t for that matter.
