Home shop lifts.

I know a lot of y'all have access to commercial shops with lifts and other equipment, but I was wondering how many have a lift in your home shop. My neighbor has one for sale. He is moving and can't take it with him. I really want it, and the price is right. Here's a picture of the model he has (not his shop). Post up any pics of yours, and tell me what you think of them.

Re: Home shop lifts.

I have a bend pak and love it! It makes my 2 car garage into a 3 car! Plus working on the bottom of a car/truck was never so nice.

One of the best 3K's I ever spent.

Here it is right after installing it. The stepside is getting the first "ride".

Re: Home shop lifts.

BUY IT NOW!!! If you've got the overhead shop height for it and the price is right, buy it before somebody else does. Mine's a cheapie generic chinese made... don't remember the brand name, 4 post 7,000lb. 110v, not real fast lifting but works GOOD. I've had it about 3yrs. w/no problems. Don't know how I lived 50+ years with out one. In addition to cars & trucks I use it for servicing my mower & golf cart. I lift the Blazer/Jimmy tops, lifted bed/cab off of PU. Great for cleaning/detailing wheels, tires, bumpers, rocker panels. Good for storing 1 veh. above the other, except ALL my vehicles dribble and need diapers

no excuse for the sloppy shop

Re: Home shop lifts.

The biggest complaint with my shop is that it only has 8' high ceilings, so a lift is a no go.

If we stay in this house, I may add onto it and have taller ceilings in the new part. If we move I'll just build a new shop with the tall ceilings...cause I really want a lift.

Just what I have in mind. Working on the trucks, my wife's Traverse, my mom's Buick and assorted lawn equipment and atv. I think the lift is a 220 volt. As for the shop all that is required is raising one 8ft light fixture. The lift also comes with 2 jack stand trays, and 3 plastic drip trays. Oh, and the price is half that of a new one plus whatever it cost to move it down the street.

I had to replace a wheel cylinder on my lowered '72, then bleed the brakes. Even with Jack stands that was just too much for my 60 year old bones.

I have looked at those before. Good option for a shop that won't take a lift.

My neighbor had build his shop to accept a lift on one side. The other side had attic storage above it. I didn't plan it that way, but my shop is a metal building with no finished ceiling, just a gable roof. So all I will have to do is raise the chains on an 8 ft light fixture. If you build that new shop, be sure to double the size you plan on. LOL

Re: Home shop lifts.

My old man has an Eagle 7000xlt, I can pretty much take whatever I want into work so I don't use it. 4 post racks are nice for oil changes or storage, anything else a 2 post is far superior if you ask me, but I work on stuff every day, having to fight around the 4 post rack even when pulling a transmission irritates me, only time I do that is when I need the 27000lb rack at work, otherwise I'd almost rather be on a creeper.

I fully agree though, I'm kinda a spoiled brat when it comes to working on the floor after a few years of always having access to a lift for everything. Any lift is better than no lift even if its one of those little roll around pad-racks but if I was gonna drop the cash, it'd be the widest, tallest highest weight capacity (7000k minimum) 2 post lift I could buy.

I hear you "LuckY". I guess I am too. I closed a business 6 years ago and last week I received two checks in the mail for that business. They will almost pay for the lift.

And you were sooooo right. Now I've just got to get it moved. I think I'll invite my 3 sons in law over next Sat for Burgers. We will eat just after the lift is set up in my shop.

Re: Home shop lifts.

Well, I gave in today and wrote the check. It will be a couple of weeks before I can move the lift to my shop, but I picked a few tools that he had as well. Got all of this plus a tent screen room, a Sanden a/c compressor, the lift and accessories for 2 grand. My wife says, Happy Fathers Day and Merry Christmas! I say "Fine By Me!"
