Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
Of course after taking it apart we ran into rusted out inner passenger side fender, battery box and I might as well replace the drivers side also...
I spent about an hour buying a bunch of parts on line, now I am sitting here like a kid waiting for the big brown truck!!!!!

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
Well I got home tonight and started thinking about new wheels and tires I did alot of reading on the site from other members and boy there are many choices...I am leaning on foose nitro 18's in the front and 20's in the rear..I am not going to do a body drop but I might go lower than where it is at now maybe four six drop.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
Nothing like having a vehicle lift at your fingertips and all the tools you need. Mine was in my shop for over hald the year (work in progress)
Good luck

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
I have one lift that I have been using steady for the last month or so. Hopefully I will have this truck back on the road in about two months max and that includes doing some paint work....I have my fingers crossed. At this point I have about five different tracking numbers on many boxes on route to south florida from everywhere..
thanks

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
Well the truck will be going to the body shop maybe monday or tuesday to have the firewall smooth, install the new radiator support and the two inner fenders and repaint the complete engine compartment. We cleaned the crap out of the engine bay including frame and all....The only thing we can't do is body work in here or paint for that matter...

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
after going back and forward this weekend I decided to gut out the rest of the cab, removing the new windshield, gas tank, back glass, carpet and seat....I figure let me repaint the interior of the cab the way it should had been done originally.. Here are some picts of the dissasembling before it finally leaves to the body shop in the next few days.

Re: Al's 71C10 Rebuild
I was lucky and I sold my 307 engine with tranny to be able to recoup some of the money I spent on my small block 400.
I finally picked up the "400" and a th350 tranny with a 3,000 stall converter..While the truck is at the body shop I am going to make this bad boy look good. List of things going on it: March Pulley v belt set up. New aluminum water pump new fuel pump new oil pan new carburator new msd dist. new taylor wires new plugs new headers new holley 650 or 750 not sure yet billet specialties or edelbrock classic valve covers and matching air cleaner new paint on the block and heads It is unbelievable how quick the money goes I have spent over 8,000 dollars in parts so far in a month and a half still have to pay for paint job, wheels and tires. I bought parts from Classic auto air, Brothers trucks, classic parts & classic performance great customer service by all of them so far.I am keeping my fingers crossed that everything goes as planned with the body shop and there are no big delays. I guess jegs or summit racing will be the next vendors that I will try finish buying what I have left before reassembling begins.. Still looking for a reasonable priced vendor for my 18 and 20 combo foose nitrous wheels polished not chrome.. Any suggestions...????
