Should I Buy This $500 Parts Truck?

I have a 1971 chev half ton and am just gettin into some bodywork.

The truck I'm intrested in is a 67' lwb with a 71' front clip.

Parts I'm interersted in....
The fenders are brand new
The doors have no rust and are in working order
The tailgate is mint with no rust or dents
The interior is redone with a nice bezel
The bumper is dentless but the chrome is a little faded

There's no engine or trans and its all 67' running gear. Once I get the parts I need, I'm sure I could bolt up my old stuff and still have a truck I could sell.

Is this worth a $500 dollar investment? This guy is short for cash and was asking $800. He says $600 and he'll deliver it right to my door.

Heck the tailgate and doors more than cover $500 so I say go for it. That is my opinion. And if you dont put it back together you could always part it out.

If the fenders and tailgate are as nice as you say, they alone would be worth nearly what he's asking for the truck. I think just about any 67-72 would be worth $500. You should definitely get it! Beat me to it

Re: Should I Buy This $500 Parts Truck?

Definately give me a good start with the bodywork. I just aligned the front end and now I might be ripping it all back apart. I think I've convinced my dad to let me go ahead with the purchace. Still have a $430 dollar ticket I've been putting off... but johny law can just take the parts truck when I'm done. lol.

5 views and 5 replies. I already worked him down from $800 to $500

Re: Should I Buy This $500 Parts Truck?

Here it is! Finally organized picking it up. I got 3 really good doors (2 driver & 1 passanger) , a good tailgate, good box, new fenders (one has surface rust b/c it wasn't primed), cool old steering wheel, 3 hoods, brand new windsheild and front drop coils. Theres two holes in the bed wood and I figure someone had semi stacks back there. lol. I might be able to scrape together a truck out of this one but it won't have an engine.
